Hi Guys, For those that compile in an initramfs which is responsible for finding & mounting the root fs, I've written a package BootUtils which contains a utility called switchroot. Switchroot lends some ideas and code from nash and adds libblkid in order to detect the filesystem and mount the root device. It supports automatic detection of FS's labeled "root", override via kernel cmdline option root=<device> or root=LABEL:xxx. Also support kernel cmdline option emergency, if --enable-emergency is passed to switchroot. This will drop to ./emergency (possibly a shell) if something goes horribly wrong when trying to find & mount the root device. Let me know if you find it usefull ;) http://www.freshmeat.net/projects/bootutils -N
