There is a new version of the OS error recovery
application note available on developer.intel.com:

  Title: OS machine Check Recovery on Itanium(r)-based Systems Application Note

This application note describes system firmware and operating
system responsibilties in recovering from machine check aborts
and documents OS recoverable errors for the Itanium and
dual-core Itanium processors. Content will be useful for
system designers, firmware developers, and OS developers
implementing error handling features.
