BTW, I know that Ubuntu comes out with the AX25 precompiled (as default) inside the kernel... isn't it ?!?
Did you and some other know something about ??

I'm using Linux without the AX25 support because the packet users are a
very limited number and the official HOWTO is now very obsolete.
As stated earlier in this thread, an updated HowTo (despite not only AX25
oriented) is located at

Just bypass the Mandriva things (or switch "Mandriva" to your distro
name), scroll down and read on.
This week-end I have configurated AX25 on a Xubuntu box using this
document.
