PIV 1,5GHz/768MB SDRAM too low for Studio64?

i use studio64. if i record midi and use qsynth with the 5.1 soundfont my cpu 
goes to 100%. is this normal? hydrogen runs in the background.
what can i do to decrease cpu-load?
