I just thought it would be best if you knew all the facts. where would i be looking for a jumper? My modem card has none.

Andrew,

This should have to deal with either your BIOS setup or a jumper inside 
your computer. Obviously a NO DIALTONE has nothing to deal with a 
username/password issue. The username/password issue comes up after 
getting a modem carrier which comes after dialing.
