We can try the ungrab-winmodem code that was made for smartlink modems :

http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/smartlink/ungrab-winmodem-20090716.
tar.gz

It is easy to build
$ tar -zxvf ungrab-winmodem-20090716.tar.gz $ sudo make $ sudo make install
$ sudo modprobe ungrab-winmodem then try out the efax command(s)

Try that Andrew and report back.

Antonio
