Re: pppd and DNS [WAS:Driver for 536ep-Modem does not compile]

Hello Philippe,

sorry, nameserver 127.0.0.1 in /etc/resolv.conf doesn't work.

So I edited /etc/sysconfig/network/config:
NETCONFIG_DNS_POLICY="STATIC_FALLBACK dsl* ppp* NetworkManager"

Works, /etc/resolv.conf gets modified automatically, according to the active interface.

Some explanation can be found in the original bug report:
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=429772

...and here, section 23.4.1.4. ("If everything else fails, read the manual!" :-) ):
http://doc.opensuse.org/documentation/html/openSUSE_114/opensuse-reference/cha.basicnet.html#sec.basicnet.yast

But something remains mysterious: When "N(etwork)M(anager) and ifup are two concurrent network setup mechanizms and you have to choose one of them" - how could they work together in SuSE 10.3 ??????????? (BTW: This DNS issue is far from being the only broken feature in 11.4...).

Best Regards
Ludwig
