Bjorn & et all,

I don't suspect kernel 3.0, I suspect GPL vs non GPL modules and/or
alsa not patched* like in your howto.
If he can get past the modules (unknown symbols) message(s), then when running
$ su -
passwd:
# wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf

might cause kernel panic/freeze, caps lock turning on/off symptoms;
this however after getting past the unknown symbols messages.  Hope he
sends more information as to what could be happening here.  The
license change is needed to get past errors in compilation.  These
messages were not reported by other users :(
