The developers of the major DTEs need to adopt common standards. Those 
standards should respect the point that about 95% of users of desktop 
computers run Windows, and so differ from Windows only when there's a clearly 
good reason to do so.

Why? While we're not all of the view that everyone should (by force of 
necessary) ditch Windows and use Linux instead, probably most of us would 
like them to.


Not everything about Windows is good, I don't think the basic design of the 
Windows UI is the best around, but the fact is that most people most likely 
to come to Linux are currently using Windows.
