Ever since I upgraded to kernel-2.4.18-14 I have had this one strange problem where I would leave my laptop unattended for several hours and come back to find that it had powered itself off. When I boot up again it goes through the ext3 journal replay, indicating that it had indeed crashed. This occurred to me four times in the last 2 days. I have not observed it to unexpectedly power off while I am using it, so it might be an idle-only problem. kernel-2.4.18-12.5 which I had been running for about a week didn't have this problem. I left my laptop on that entire week without reboots. I have a second identical laptop here, so I will be testing that laptop idle all week in various kernels. Any clue what may have happened here? This is a bit worrisome.
