fam (SGI's old file access monitor if I remember IRIX right) is not
running. Unsurprising in most cases - it probably runs out of xinetd and
most desktop users won't want that. I would ignore it.

Probably a missing cast (C programming error) in gedit. Check out the
source, gedit.c line 932 if you want to fix it. Again it shouldn't
matter and I would ignore it.

Does that help at all? Does either one actually break the app?
