NASA TV to Air SpaceX-3 Status Update at Noon EDT April 13

NASA Television will air a news conference at noon EDT on Sunday, April 13 at the agency's Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

The briefing will provide an update on the status of the SpaceX-3 cargo mission launch to the International Space Station, currently scheduled for 4:58 p.m. Monday, April 14, and on the failure on Friday of a backup computer component that provides redundancy for commanding the Mobile Transporter rail car on the truss of the station.

The briefing will include International Space Station Program Manager Michael Suffredini.

Reporters may ask questions in person from Kennedy or by calling into a phone bridge. Journalists planning to use the phone bridge must contact the Kennedy newsroom at 321-867-2468 no later than 11:45 a.m.

Space station program officials and representatives of SpaceX are continuing preparations for the launch of the Falcon 9 rocket and the Dragon cargo craft to the station from Space Launch Complex 40 at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla.

A final decision on whether to launch Dragon Monday will not be made until a status meeting is conducted Sunday morning. If managers decide to press ahead with the SpaceX-3 launch, a briefing previewing the mission's science and technology cargo will air on NASA TV at 2 p.m.
