NASA AWARDS KENNEDY SPACE CENTER WATER SYSTEMS CONTRACT
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- NASA has selected Speegle Construction II,
Inc. of Cocoa, Fla., for the revitalization of Kennedy Space Center's
Water and Wastewater Systems Project.
The total value of the firm-fixed price contract is $6.97 million. The
performance period, which begins in August 2011, is 540 days.
Speegle's scope of work will include, but is not limited to,
replacement of existing asbestos cement water mains, water main
valves and connections. Additional work to be performed consists of
the installation of a 500,000 gallon pre-stressed concrete ground
storage reservoir and a new water pump station.
The company will install and replace water quality analyzers, gravity
sewer systems, sewer manhole linings and associated electrical and
communications equipment. The project is scheduled to begin in fall
2011.
Speegle will have work spanning across Kennedy. It will include the
industrial area near the center's headquarters building, the Vehicle
Assembly Building and Launch Pads 39A and 39B.
