NASA'S SHUTTLE DISCOVERY MOVES FROM PROCESSING HANGAR TO VAB
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- Media are invited to cover shuttle Discovery's
move from its processing hangar to the Vehicle Assembly Building
(VAB), on Wednesday, July 13, at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in
Florida. Discovery's first motion out of Orbiter Processing
Facility-2 (OPF-2) is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. EDT.
STS-135 media mission badges are valid for this photo opportunity.
Media planning to attend must arrive at Kennedy's news center by 7:30
a.m. for transportation to the event. New accreditation for this
event is closed.
Updates on the move will be available at 321-867-2525.
Inside the VAB, Discovery will be stored for approximately one month
while shuttle Atlantis undergoes processing in OPF-2 following its
final mission, STS-135. Discovery flew its final mission, STS-133, in
February and March 2011 and currently is being prepared for public
display at the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum Steven F.
Udvar-Hazy Center in Virginia.
