NASA RESCHEDULES LAUNCH PAD PHOTO OPPORTUNITY TO MARCH 19
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - The move for space shuttle Discovery's STS-131
mission payload to NASA Kennedy Space Center's Launch Pad 39A now is
targeted for Friday, March 19, starting at 12:01 a.m. EDT. The photo
opportunity at the pad now is scheduled for 8 a.m. on March 19.
The additional time will allow shuttle technicians to perform testing
on Discovery's reaction control system helium valves.
During the event, reporters will have the opportunity to speak with
Kennedy's STS-131 payload mission manager, Joe Delai, and Boeing
payload flow manager, Mike Kinslow.
Media planning to attend must arrive at Kennedy's news center by 7:30
a.m. for transportation to the event. Participants must be dressed in
full-length pants, flat shoes that entirely cover the feet and shirts
with sleeves. Wireless microphones and cell phones are not permitted
at the launch pad. Changes to this event also will be updated on
Kennedy's media phone line, 321-867-2525.
Discovery will deliver the multi-purpose logistics module, Leonardo,
filled with a variety of spare parts and supplies to the
International Space Station. Standard preparations for Discovery's
targeted April 5 launch date will continue in parallel while the
additional helium testing takes place.
