12.04.06 Jeanne Ryba Kennedy Space Center, Fla. 321-867-2468 RELEASE: 71-06 NASA ANNOUNCES STS-116 MISSION WEB AND TELEVISION COVERAGE NASA Television and the agency's home on the Internet, http://www.nasa.gov, will provide extensive prelaunch and launch day coverage of Space Shuttle Discovery's mission STS-116 to the International Space Station. Liftoff is scheduled for Dec. 7 from Kennedy Space Center in Florida. A prelaunch webcast is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. EST Dec. 6 from Kennedy's Internet broadcasting network, known as NASA Direct. The program will feature a mission overview hosted by Stephanie Stilson, Space Shuttle Discovery flow director. Highlights will include an interview with three-time shuttle astronaut Rick Linnehan, who will answer questions about living and working in space. Live countdown coverage from NASA's Launch Blog begins at 3:30 p.m. Dec 7. Coverage features real-time updates as countdown milestones occur, as well as streaming video clips highlighting launch preparations and liftoff. A panel of experts has answered questions about NASA's preparation for the STS-116 mission. Those responses are available online and in podcasts.
