Yeah, reads and writes should be around the same.

With centos 5 could you do

iscsiadm -m session -i

If header digests are enabled, then turn them off and retry the test.

Also send the output of that command so we can see what settings we 
negotiated for.

Also have you tried any other initiator? qla4xxx or Microsoft?
