Yes, I've tried different bs, no joy. I'm taking a FC7 and centos 5 machine down there today, this may help narrow the problem to the iSCSI box. Thanks. -----Original Message----- From: linux-iscsi-users-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:linux-iscsi-users-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Mike Christie Sent: 17 September 2007 20:09 To: Hiren Joshi Cc: linux-iscsi-users@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: Good write bad read times joshi wrote: > Sorry if I've already posted this. > > This is weird, I have Dell (EMC) Ax150i running centos4.4 > 2.6.9-42.ELsmp > iscsi-initiator-utils-4.0.3.0-5 > > My write speed (dd about 10GB to the disk) is 250MB/s This is good. > My read speed (dd 10GB from the disk to /dev/null) is about 3MB/s Bad > =( > If you increase the dd bs size does it help? If you do dd if=... of=... bs=256k do you get the same result? Also what nic are you using? Also is it possible to try a current kernel and open-iscsi.org? You could try the centos5 kernel with the iscsi-initiator-utils-5 or 6* rpm. I noticed a weird issue with centos4.4/RHEL4 2.6.9 based kernels and slow read speed. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ - This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges.
