GTK+ icons on latest snapshot

Hi gtk-list@,

Since my last upgrade, all GTK+ application icons have a white or a
black background, with no transparency.

It's a minor problem, but it's annoying anyway. Some icons really suck,
plus that some applications don't have a text label in buttons, making it
hard to figure out what the functionality is.

I googled for it, but only found very old references for it (2006).

Any clues on what's the possible cause?
