Hi,

Sorry to interject in this conversation, but could you let me know of some good resources (books - in print/online) or websites with tutorials on learning basics of image-editing with The Gimp?
I was referred to the free to download (PDF) book:"Grokking the Gimp", but feel that is too dated (2000-2001) for the current version of TG.

I am a novice to photo-editing, in general and programs used for this.

 GIMP already comes with a good set of plug-ins.  In fact, many of the
 tools that many consider "standard", are in fact plug-ins.  As a
 beginner, I suggest first learning the core program, /then/ explore the
 many cool goodies out on the Net.
