I'm trying to install GIMP on a new machine with Vista Home Premium.
Right away I got an error message: (file name/path*)
________________________________________________________
An error occurred while trying to rename a file in the destination
directory:
MoveFile failed; code 32.
The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another
process.
Click retry ...

I clicked Retry and immediately saw the same message with a different
file name. I tried six times for the following files before I gave up.
libcurl-4.dll
libexpat.dll
libxml2.dll
smlparse.dll
libsvg.dll
bzip2.exe
I restarted the computer, and nothing other than the basic array of
Startup items is running, and I still have this problem. It seems
unlikely that these files actually are in use -- they don't show up in
Task Manager.
Suggestions? I've used GIMP on three other computers and I love it. I
want it on this one too. BTW, had I known how irritating Vista is, I
would have upgraded this new machine to XP before setting it up. It's
still tempting!
