Re: unable to print maps made with gimp | |

These are all images that I originally had stored as Gimp images. While I could send them to someone else in that format, unless that person had the GIMP installed on their own computer, they could not access them, as their computer could not read them. Once I converted them over to Jpeg format though, I could send send them, as I am doing here, and anyone could access, and read them, without having to have the Gimp installed on their computer to do so. Perhaps if you convert your maps over from Gimps native file format (xcf.), to gif, of jpeg image first, save them in the new format, and then call them back up onto your screen in their new format, from your storage folder, you can then use your computers own reading, and printing formats to read, and print them with, so that if you want to send a copy of them to a friend, or what have you, you will then be able to do so, as an attached file, as I have done with the attached files contained herein. I guess when you say "map" you mean a particular kind of image as used
in some specific application (game), not just an image that happens to
show a (cartographic) map? But others might wonder why an image
showing a map would be any different than, say, an image showing a cat
and a dog.... But anyway, I hope you realize that to GIMP it is quite
irrelevant what the image is used for.
Anyway, about printing: Yes, printing on Windows is known to be
somewhat broken both in GIMP 2.2 (where the printing code was in a
GIMP plug-in) and in GTK+ 2.10 and 2.12 (which is what GIMP 2.4 uses).
It won't be fixed magically by itself, and nobody with the necessary
skills and time seems to be particularly interested (me included).
So, please print images from some other application.
