Thanks for that page, it's in my browser bookmarks now.
I tried a (let* ( (actwidth 0) (actheight 0) ... ) ... )
around the body of my function pre-setting all variables I use.
It has the same effect as using define the first time I use the
variables - the error messages are gone.
But my loop is only run once (which I will explore further in the
evening).
