When you installed GIMP, you obviously selected the option to associate the various image file types with GIMP.

To change the program that is associated with, for example, a jpg file, open Windows Explorer (right click on Start, select Explore), aind any file on your hard drive that has an extension of .jpg.

Right-click on the .jpg file and select "Open With", then select "Choose Program". This should display a list of installed programs. Select the program you wish to associate with .jpg's and check the "A;ways use this program to open these files" box and click OK. This will open the image, using whatever program you selected. More importantly, it will remember your choice and will always use that program to open the file.

Repeat the process for other image file types, such as tif, gif and so on.
