Not even a newbie: should I start with 2.2 or the latest release candidate for 2.4?

I'm going to download and install GIMP. Should I start with 2.2 or the
latest release candidate for 2.4?

I'm inclined to just get the installer from
http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.html
