I wish it would be that simple.  When trying to start (in Linux) Gimp
" ...in console mode, type LANGUAGE=fr gimp ",
Gimp still starts in English.

May be it was working with previous versions (I'm running Gimp 2.6 on
Ubuntu 11.04) but that doesn't work now.

I haven't found anything else on Google to help me out.  If you can
point me in some (right) directions I'd appreciate that.
