I'm using gimp 1.1.29, and I experienced something similar,
yesterday. It only happens
WHEN
I try to take a screenshot of a single window
WHILE
a gimp menu is still on the screen.
I, too, get up pop-up that says "can't open file for reading".
Another thing I get is a message on STDERR from C<xwd> saying
that the mouse pointer could not be grabbed or something.
I'm not exactly sure what the problem is, but I thought I'd pass
this information on in case someone could use it to figure out
what's going on.
