Yes! Adobe Photoshop does fine thin lines, in two version: w/ and w/o
antialiasing. These non-antialiased are like:

####
    ####
        ####

but in GIMP they are:

#####
    #####
        #####

You see, in Photoshop line goes like queen, and in GIMP goes like rook.
But in GIMP, while preview and in meausure tool, there is a line also like
queen. So why actually drawn line goes like a rook? What a problem was
with doing it queen-like? Is it a bug, or something?
