I did however notice it didn't say anything about having to anchor the paste unless I'm missing that but I don't think it does..unless thats something new to newer version of gimp.....? anyway it works..I can also duplicate this somewhat quicker it seems by just creating the new channel mask and left clicking inside the image which brings up the threshold requestor..I then click the 'eye' icon which makes it white making a direct comparison to the tutorial you sent. kewl...... anyway thanks I"d never have figured it out BECAUSE like a silly nut...i 'forgot' to "select>all" when I did the copy.....for petes sake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don' feel real bad though my friend missed it too and she's been around the bush with photoshop..har! i'll get pleasure from cluing her in ..hehe..she'll get a charge! she's a sweetie. anyways besides my "select>all" snafoo!!! I also was NOT anchoring the image ...go fig...multiple mistakes.... main thing is thanks to kind users its a done deal.. :) lee -====
