Guess We have to define "size" If you scan a photo at 100 dpi and view it at 100% on the screen it will be smaller than the same photo scanned at 300DPI view at 100%. That is one size. The other size is the KB of the file. That will be more for a higher resolution file as well.
To scan a picture at a higher resolution means it has to make more dots per line which takes more room ie a larger picture hence a bigger picture.
