Hello Tessa, there are various filters in GIMP, you can try them all out apart or combined.
My personal experience has shown that the output is rather dull. I prefer working with layers: one of the layers is reserved for outlines, another one for blurred and somewhat brightened (saturated) colours. The watercolour illusion is by far richer than using ready-made filters.
