RE: [ogfs-users]openGFS to GFS
FYI, there *is* some upgrade support within RedHat GFS that might just
work.
The disk format for OpenGFS hasn't changed (has it, Brian?) since
OpenGFS branched off from GFS a few years ago, *except* for OpenGFS'
external journals (RH GFS does *not* support external journals!). A lot
of disk format within RH GFS has not changed in a very long time, as
well.
There's code within RH GFS to upgrade from some significantly earlier
versions, and it looked to me like it might just work (if you're not
using OpenGFS external journals) for upgrading OpenGFS, but I'm not
going to say for sure, having not tried it.
If you're interested in trying the upgrade, I'd suggest asking on the RH
linux-cluster mailing list. Ken Preslan is the best expert on that.
Of course, as Brian suggests, the safest path is to
archive/remake-the-filesystem/restore.
If you decide to try it (maybe on a separate OpenGFS filesystem), let us
know if it works.
