Theoretically, but the performance of the cluster/lock transport (i.e. gigE, 
etc.) is going to hit it's limits before you get there I think.

Internal journals should be able to be specified on the cmd line. If that 
isn't true, could you file a bug about it?

This isn't supported. each external journal has to have it's own partition.
