It depends on the cluster manager that EVMS interacts with. Currently EVMS
interacts with Linux-HA cluster manager. Linux-HA cluster manager does
not allow dynamic addition of nodes to the cluster. All the nodes that
can possibly be part of the cluster are predefined in a configuration
file.  So the maximum number of nodes that can be in a cluster is well 
known. EVMS as it currently stands assumes a static cluster.

So to answer your question, EVMS does not know when nodes are being
added to a cluster. However EVMS comes to know when a eligible nodes
join or leave the cluster, through the Linux-HA's membership services.


Now the question is: does OpenGFS assume a static cluster or a dynamic 
cluster?
