i´ve never seen a theme without such a file. the themes for
win & linux are the same therefore it should be the same
file called "theme". it has to be in the same folder as the
graphics are.
are all smileys displayed when you start gaim? if yes there
must be such a file. but if not and you really want to have
that theme you will have to copy the "theme" file from
"gaim/pixmaps/gaim/smileys/default" into the new one and
change it.

Many thanks Paul. But under linux what would that file be
called, and located where ? I've downloaded a buncha themes,
followed the instructions[unpacked them in their own dir
located in ~/.gaim/smileys/] and i did look for a file like
that but i couldnt find any.

all smileys-themes are stored in "gaim/pixmaps/gaim/smileys"
folder. a smiley theme consists of graphics (the smileys)
and one file which doesn´t have an extension called "theme".
when you open this file with notepad you will see a text
like this:
Name=Example Theme
Description=Theme Description
Icon=Smiley1.png
Author=Author, ICQ: 123-456-789
[default]
Smiley1.png (=
Smiley2.png )=
name, description, icon & author are displayed in the
options dialog. the graphics with their tooltip e.g. (= are
displayed in the smiley window. the smileys are sorted downwards
