Should libgit2 request a temporary bundling exception for xdiff?

Hi,

libgit2 currently bundles an older version of xdiff, which itself isn't
released as a public library people can use. Spot's been working on
making a proper xdiff release that can be used by developers and libgit
upstream is working on porting code over to this. However, since there
isn't a fixed time frame when the port will be complete, can/should
libgit be granted a temporary exception to use the currently bundled
version of xdiff?

Other software, such as gitg is waiting on a libgit update:
