---- Fedora's LWN subscription ----

Max Spevack announced[1] to the Fedora community, "I've done my
once-every-six-months-or-so cleanup of the Fedora LWN[2] subscription,
pruning any accounts that haven't logged into LWN since September 1, 2009.

We've got about 20 subscriptions that we can enable, so if you are a
Fedora community member and would like to be able to access LWN's
subscriber-only content, please send me an email with your LWN account
name, and I'll make it so.

---- Outage Notification - 2010-01-13 22:00 UTC ----

Mike McGrath notified[1] the list: "There will be an outage starting at

Reason for Outage:

hosted1.fedoraproject.org (the primary fedorahosted host) has been
throwing memory errors so we have a ticket open to fix it. There is a 4
hour window for them to work on it though it's not likely to be down
that whole time so the actual outage should be much smaller.

---- %cmake macro usage, dropping -DCMAKE_SKIP_RPATH:BOOL=ON ----

Rex Dieter informed[1] the list that "If you're the maintainer of a
cmake-based package, and use the %cmake macro, be aware I just
implemented a change in rawhide (to cmake-2.8.0-2) to drop the usage of
-DCMAKE_SKIP_RPATH:BOOL=ON as previously discussed[2].

If you want or need to continue with the old behavior, use %cmake
%{?_cmake_skip_rpath}

NOTE: At the time of writing this, kde4 packages that use the
%cmake_kde4 macro still use %{_cmake_skip_rpath} by default (at least
until we can sort out other rpath-related issues in kde4's buildsystem)."

---- Request for Fedora 13 Feature Page Status Update ----

John Poelstra requested[1] feature owners update those needing updates.

"Thanks for all the great work you are doing to make Fedora 13 our best
release ever.

I just did a quick review of the accepted pages we have so far for
Fedora 13 and there are a few that have not been updated since November

-- QualityAssurance --

In this section, we cover the activities of the QA team[1], as the QA

--- Test Days ---

There was no Test Day last week, and no Test Day is currently planned
for this week. If you would like to propose a main track Test Day for
the Fedora 13 cycle, please contact the QA team via email or IRC, or
file a ticket in QA Trac[1].

    1. http://fedorahosted.org/fedora-qa/

--- Weekly meetings ---

The QA group weekly meeting[1] was held on 2010-01-11. The full logs are
available[2]. Adam Miller reported that he had begun working with
Christoph Wickert and Kevin Fenzi to plan the Fedora 13 Xfce test day.
They had started a new mailing list for Xfce issues and discussed
whether to commit to including Xfce 4.8 in Fedora 13.

Jóhann Guðmundsson had agreed with Christoph Wickert that a Fedora 13
LXDE test day would be a useful event. He promised to work on writing
test cases and picking a date for the test day. He also suggested an
LXDE mailing list may be a good idea.

James Laska said he had spoken to Matthias Clasen about the possibility
of Fit'n'Finish test days for the Fedora 13 cycle, but Matthias thought
this would likely not happen. James had also added some ideas about test
days for the Fedora 13 cycle to the wiki talk page[3].

James had also posted a request to the mailing lists[4] for reviews of
packages needed for the AutoQA project, but he was still looking for
people to review the packages.

Will Woods gave an update on the AutoQA project. He had been filing
tickets to plan out future work on automated installation testing,
organized under a milestone[5]. However, the next priority was to work
on dependency check tests, organized under another milestone[6]. This
requires the creation of a post-bodhi-update hook; Will had been working
with Luke Macken to decide on the best method of doing this. He also
noted that rpmguard had now been merged into AutoQA's master branch.
Kamil Paral noted that he had written a blog post[7] on the recent
changes to rpmguard and the creation of an rpmguard wiki page[8]. He was
now thinking about how to improve rpmguard's reporting method. James
Laska provided an update on the status of packaging the AutoQA
components into Fedora: autotest-client is awaiting review[9], autoqa
and autotest are packaged, and he is working on a plan for packaging
gwt, which has a large amount of Java dependencies. He was considering
having a sprint to work on that.

There was no BugZappers meeting during the week due to the absence of
several members.

--- X.org update testing request ---

Adam Williamson asked the group[1] to make a special effort to test
several new X.org and graphics-related candidate updates, due to the
significant impact they could have if approved as stable updates. Many
group members responded with valuable feedback, which helped the X
developers promote the updates to stable status with confidence.

--- Desktop validation testing update ---

Adam Williamson updated the status of the desktop validation testing
project: he had now created a draft test matrix[1] to organize desktop
validation testing for the Fedora 13 cycle, and asked for the group's
comments on it, and opinions on whether it should be merged with the
installation testing matrix, or made into a separate page. Rui He
thought[2] it should be a separate page. James Laska suggested[3]
separate pages with a read-only master page which would transclude the
separate pages.

--- Contact with Symbian QA group ---

Symbian's Mike Kinghan asked[1] if the group was interested in helping
Symbian's fledgling community QA group with the benefit of its immense
wisdom and experience. Once the laughter had died down, Jóhann
Guðmundsson suggested that Mike could post his questions to the list for
feedback from all group members, and/or contact Adam Williamson, the
community QA lead.

Adam Miller announced[1] that he had updated Rawhide's gnome-shell
package to a recent upstream git snapshot, and asked the group to help
test it and send feedback and bug reports upstream to the GNOME project.

--- Submission Branches for Anaconda ---

Anaconda developer David Cantrell requested the Fedora Translation team
to submit translations only to the development branch of anaconda and
not to a released branch, since post-release the translation updates
would ideally not be used[1]. In this case, the f12-branch. Piotr Drag
closed the submissions to this branch temporarily[2], however they were
reopened again[3] after Miloš Komarčević pointed out that localized
spins/remixes of released versions may require the updates[4]. At
present, a warning message has been posted on the anaconda submission
page, to inform translators about pushing submissions to the 'master'
branch for the next release of Fedora[5].

The brainstorming for the conceptual phase of the Fedora 13 artwork
continued with a sketch[1] by Máirín Duffy "the concept is really along
the lines of what all of our sketches have, I think. But the visual
style I'd want to go for is like this Modest Mouse album" which made
everybody think about rocket trails and a "digital" concept[2] from
Hristo Petkov "In my view it should be something digital to show the
power of the computer"
