<x-charset iso-8859-1>This thread started as a discussion on the future of an expensive model which gets in-house competition from a newer, more capable and relatively cheaper successor. This question now pops up at another level. The 2100/2200 is cheaper and probably better than the 2000, so it will take at least that market. In the wide carriage line the next cheaper model is the 1270/80/90. In the smaller range the 950 is hte top. Epson's pricing policy makes the A3 printers rather more expensive than the A4's: if you compare with Canon, the price differential between S900 and S9000 is far smaller than between the Epsons 890 and 1290. Am I then correct in thinking there will NOt be a wide carriage version of the 950? ----- Original Message ----- [snip]> But Dan, this is based on that fact that the 2200 uses Epson's black and "lite" > black ink. Now I supose other ink manufactures can come out with a "lite" > black, but it might not be worth their investment.
