<x-charset iso-8859-1>My 1270 went out about a month ago (just out of warranty), but Epson gave me another under warranty which I am thankful for. 2 weeks later that one went out (another on it's way). I printed 3 B&W prints (same print 3 times--playing with Photoshop) one evening, then the next day that same print was Magenta. It was the first print I printed the next day. One print normal the next Magenta. I reprinted it and again Magenta. A nozzle check showed no Light Cyan. Done several cleaning cycles then no Dark Cyan. More cleaning cycles then no Light Magenta then no Yellow. Tried Epson cars and still lost 4 colors within a couple of hours. I took a piece of heat-shrink-tubing and shrunk it down just enough to fit over the plastic stub that pierces the tape on the bottom of any standard cart, put cleaning solution into the tubing, then put the vacuum pump that comes with a CIS on the other end of the tubing and completely flushed each of the 6 heads out. I flushed each head until I got nothing but cleaning solution on the napkin under the heads to make sure that each was completely clean. Tried a new set of Epson carts and the only colors I got was Black and Dark Magenta. My question is, does anyone feel that a 3rd party ink (I'm not saying Media Street--just happen to be using their dye inks at the time) could cause the heads to not function even though they're not plugged? Could an ink somehow damage the heads ability to fire? Appreciate any replies from anyone who has had similar problems and what inks you were using when the heads went.
