<x-charset iso-8859-1>I'm glad you can scan & print to your OEM Epson with Linux. For me, Linux will just be a Server OS curiosity until the big software vendors get on board. Gimp is nice, but I want to run my Adobe software on a color-calibrated system. I found it intriguing that the last Adobe survey I took asked which OS'es I used - so I lied & checked the Linux box along with Windows. I recently used both web & phone support to get Adobe to send me my PS 7 (they sent 6 when I ordered & never would have sent 7 unless I complained), so I am not sure which path generated the oportunity to fill out that survey. But if enough people check off Linux, who knows what may happen... maybe we can eventually exit the MS toll road. -BK ----- Original Message ----- From: "Robert L Krawitz" <rlk@alum.mit.edu> To: <epson-inkjet@leben.com> Cc: <epson-inkjet@leben.com> Sent: Tuesday, May 07, 2002 4:25 AM Subject: Re: Gimp, Linux, and profiling pigmented inks > From: Christoph Schoenherr <cschoenherr@altavista.de> > Date: Tue, 7 May 2002 13:50:57 +0200 > > I work with Gimp 1.2.2 on a Linux machine, printing on Epson 1270 > with the Epson OEM catridges, scanning with a Nikon LS-30, and get > fairly acceptable results without any dedicated profiling > software.
