I often do short-run projects for customers and select from a wide variety of papers, depending upon the desired outcome. </FONT></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>My first attempts to reproduce the image that I created in Photoshop have been dismal. I created a small band of flowers with a subtle stripe behind them and some text on a program for a memorial service. Well, the outcome looks like mud from the 1280. I am using a paper called Popset, made by Arjo Wiggins Fine Papers, which has irridescent colors. Absolutely nothing was acceptable and I tried at least 20 different setting. The edges were blurred, the text was not crisp and the colors were terrible. To get the job done I went to Kinko's and had it done there on a color laser printer. </FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I have used an Epson Stylus Pro for several years and have always found that it prints quite well on a great variety of papers. It just doesn't have the brilliance or speed of newer printers and I felt it was time to upgrade. </FONT></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>One thing that is apparent to me when I look at these samples is that it looks like the ink (dye) is spreading out on the paper. All micro-piezio dots are becoming one big mess. Could the drying time be too slow? </FONT></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I have been reading a great deal about the 1280 lately. I know that the inks are dyes, rather than pigments. Would the pigments be even slower to dry on non-Epson papers? In other words, if this is the case, then upgrading to the 2000P would not resolve this problem for me. </FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I noticed on inkjetart.com (<A href="http://www.tssphoto.com/sp/dg/c80/index.html">http://www.tssphoto.com/sp/dg/c80/index.html</A>) that a new Epson C80 is coming out soon. It has a new ink system called DuraBrite. Does anyone know about this ink system. Is it fast drying and will it hold the dots it places on many types of paper? Also does anyone know when the wide-carriage version will be released? </FONT></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>thank you for any help you can offer. </FONT></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Krista</FONT></DIV></BODY></HTML> </x-html>
