<x-charset ISO-8859-1>I recently had a similar problem with my 1270. Black ink was actually spraying from the cartridge, onto the rollers, causing ink trails down the entire print. Epson tech support said it sounded like a hardware problem and they thought the print head was probably cracked. They shipped me out a new printer that day and now I'm back to normal. I know you said the ink wasn't coming from the rollers, but it might be coming from a different spot on the print head. Hope this helps.
