Re: Date: Mon, 6 Aug 2001 12:39:42 -0500 From: james mcccaughan <jmccaughan@iwaynet.net> Subject: nikon ls 2000 scanner setup I have a ls 2000 scanner and a g4 mac and find the documentation for the nikon very poor and not helpful. I am scanning old negative-some are over, some under exposed and some just poor; but I need to try to restore them. Does anyone have any suggestions for setting the input, output %scale, resolution etc etc parameters? Any suggestions for a book or other info on using this scanner. Thanks ============================ There are 3 solutions. 1: Have you installed the latest Nikon software which is Nikonscan 3.1? This is shown to be for the new 4000 and 8000 models but works perfectly well with the 2000. Considerrable improvement on the v2.5 that came with the scanner. 2: Download Vuescan 7.1.8 from http://www.hamrick.com. Superb software. 3: Silverfast series 5 from http://www.lasersoft.com - specific for LS 2000. There is an older series 4 (which I have) which is also very good and used to be free for 2000 owners. It's supposed to have come bundled with the LS 2000 but you had to make some effort to get this software from Silverfast. gw - Turn off HTML mail features. Keep quoted material short.
