<x-flowed>"Neukranz, Bill" <wn@ti.com>'s summary of the beyond-a-1270 options for a high-volume job makes me wish we had more on-list comment on the 5500 options - use the RIP or not, try third-party consumables or not, etc. The first few options Bill listed aren't very appealing to me, but they reminded me of the sort of job printing "TomCat" used to post about before he quit the list in reaction to protests that he was obnoxious (which he seemed to try to provoke). As I remember, TomCat used more than one 1520 with third-party consumables and a lot of resourcefulness, e.g., laminated business cards as a way around the then lack of a good two-sided card stock. And he had a lot of data on unit costs, profit margins, etc. So anyone interested in the multiple-printer model might want to try to find his old posts in the archives, which I've never used.
