<x-charset Windows-1252>When sending from a Mac to a PC, you are correct, the name of the file may prevent a PC from opening it. So changing the extension to a form that the PC can read is the right thing to do. But there is no difference between Mac and PC jpg's. There is a difference in how Macs and PC store data on disks, so generally, disks cannot be swapped from Mac to PC unless it was written to a PC formatted disk, or the PC has a Mac reading utility onboard. However, when a file written to a Mac on that Mac's Mac formatted storage medium is sent via email or a web browser (such as images embedded in a web page, many of which are created on Macs) to a recipient on a PC, it is written to that PC's storage medium in the PC's storage format and can therefore be read with no difficulty. The formatting of the storage medium where the file is sent from has no bearing on the readability of that file after it is transmitted to another computer that stores it in a different formatting scheme. As long as the file itself is of a type that can be read by software on the receiving computer, the file will open.
