1280 inks... on a 1280, right? Where'd you get them?
Would they work on an 1160?

Here's a rundown of the inks I've tried since this
printer was new (about 18 months ago.)

1. Epson OEM carts, in those dark days before CISs
were invented.

2. Generations. Ran fine, I just couldn't handle
the lousy gamut and the look on glossy paper.
These inks were purchased along with my 1st CIS.

3. Quasi-beta-Lincoln Inks (aka "Wide Spectrum")
Never ran properly, even on a 2nd CIS purchased
just for this test.

4. MIS Archival inks (dye-pigment hybrid). Ran
OK until the bottles were about 1/3 full, then
horrible banding set in. Gamut was a bit better
than Generations, but still no good on the glossy
papers I like.

5. DataProducts carts (pre-filled clone carts.)
Ran fine. Good color. Not archival, of course.
Cheap dye inks, print great on any glossy paper.

6. Generic dye inks, no-name -- came with a refill
kit I bought a couple years back for my old 600.
They ran fine, but colors were a bit off.

7. AIJ Pinnacle Gold. Micro-banding, though nowhere
near as bad as the Lincoln inks. Some useable prints,
but just too much bother. Color was decidedly warmer
than Epson OEM.

8. Mediastreet Generic Dye inks, purchased just a
few weeks ago. Seemed OK for a few days, but magenta
nozzle checks were always ragged, and micro-banding
on dark blue tones. Wasted most of the ink in cleaning
cycles, sheets of color swatches, etc.

Which brings us back to:

9. DataProducts carts. Printer happy, Rafe happy.
Biding time before I dive back into this "CIS +
some mystery ink" adventure.
