<x-flowed>>What sorts of procedures do folks use when >changing inksets on the NoMoreCarts CIS? > > >rafe b I think the safest (and most expensive way) would be to have a different set of carts/tubes for each ink set. NoMoreCarts seems to think it's OK to mix dye based inks in the same system; we simply have to wait for the inks to exchange fully. But I have to wonder how well even dye based inks mix. It may be possible for clots to appear due to the interaction of the different brands of dyes, at least in one color chamber, and such a clot may block the ink from getting to the print head effectively. I had a persistent clog in my 760 after switching from MIS dye to WeInk dye inks. The persistent cyan clog that the MIS inks caused (and Epson repair fixed) was replaced by a magenta clog. The WeInk magenta has yet to clog in my two 1160s (nor any of the other colors). So I'm guessing I either created some chemical clotting of inks, or simply had a lemon 760. Cleaning the inside of the carts would be an option- a lot of back flushing, windex, distilled water, etc. - if the 760 hadn't developed the "all lights flashing" problem. Since I can't attribute the clog to the CIS carts for certain, I'm looking for ways to reuse them: the tubing is too short to use with an 1160 (for a quad ink swap, for example). I don't think any more recent 4 ink printer uses the same carts....any suggestions? william - Turn off HTML mail features. Keep quoted material short.
