In general I haven't noticed a difference between programs. However, I did
notice a significant difference recently between Corel Photo Paint 8 and
other programs when printing a B&W image to an Epson Photo 870.

Photo Paint could not print the image correctly. It would produce one or
more lines vertically through the image, no matter how I played with the
image size and resolution. At first I thought it was a clogged print head,
but found that other programs on my Mac (Canvas, Photoshop LE, Photodeluxe)
had no problem with the image.

I'm not sure whether this should be considered a bug or simply the results
of a less sophisticated print engine in Photo Paint. But it does show that
there's at least the possibility of different software producing different
prints from an identical file.
