Personally I'm looking for a extra-small dot mid format (16 by 20) *four* color printer. Something like a really big Stylus 900 or a Stylus 3000 with extra tiny dots. Seems you have to go for six colors these days even if you think six colors are not particularly optimal. Given that royal pain in the buns the next step up from a Stylus 3000 would probably be something like a Stylus 5000 would it not? At that cost maybe a Stylus 7000 (24 inch) would be the ticket.
