<x-charset Windows-1252>I'm not at all sure that Adaptec or the OS are the sole problem sources. I have tried 2 new computers with Asus motherboards and Via Apollo chipsets - one with an AMD Athlon 850, the other with a Pentium III 800, both running Win 98SE. I have had extreme frustration with both when trying to use a combination of IDE drives, USB printers and flatbed scanner, and SCSI film scanner and CD-RW writer. I have tried 2 SCSI cards - Tekram and Adaptec, both having problems of one kind or another. I have reluctantly decided that this combination of USB and SCSI with Via chipsets is a significant source of problems to which there doesn't seem to be a complete answer. I also have an older Pentium Pro IBM computer with an Intel chipset and WIN 98SE which has no problems handling the same IDE/USB/SCSI equipment. BTW, one happy result is that my Epsons 1160 and EX printers run very well via USB on all the systems. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Michael Keller" <m.w.keller@verizon.net> To: "Epson-Inkjet" <epson-inkjet@leben.com> Sent: Saturday, January 06, 2001 6:00 PM Subject: OT: Windows 2K and Adaptec > Since we recently were discussing CD creation on this list, and it has a > wide range of users, I thought I'd indulge myself this question. > > A friend has told me that Windows 2000 Professional (not ME) is incompatible > with Adaptec stuff.
